Most of the greatest artists in the history of music have pulled it off as a result of their ability to create unique sounds. Kuality may not be on the greatness list yet, but the quality of his music is certain to fly him there in no time.
Real name, Samson Abiewu Opute, Kuality is not your average musician; he is an artist the fullness of the definition. He started dancing and playing music instruments from age 10. Even as a kid, his parents did not discourage him from his passion; however, they ensured that he got proper education to prepare him for the future.
Kuality is from Delta State but, grew up in Ilupeju with his parents, twin brother and other siblings. He attended Mate Primary School, and then Adebayo Mokuolu College. He completed his secondary education at Ilupeju College, and gained admission into Lagos State University to study Political Science Education.
While in the University, Kuality tried his hands on acting or Nollywood as the industry is popularly called. He acted in movies like Emotional Blunder, Secret game, Under The Sky to mention a few. He also featured on some Ghanaian flicks alongside John Dumelu and Jackie Appiah.
In 2010, Kuality got a job in Namibia and left Nigeria for it. The trip to Namibia gave him an opportunity to focus more on his music career. It also exposed him to their brand of music, which is known as Afro Classic House.
As a foreign artist in Namibia, Kuality was popularly called a Naija boy, and shared a stage with big Namibian acts like Jericho, Da Dogg, Sunny Boy and the likes. His popularity on the Namibian music scene attracted one of the biggest media platforms, Voigush TV, and they interviewed him while in the studio, recording a song.
Kuality adopted the Namibian Afro Classic House with his root orientation, to create a unique blend of music, which he has brought back into the country. His first official single, “Ile Ijo” was released with a video, shot in South Africa. The song was big in Namibia, as it hit major music charts and clubs around the country.
The multi talented Kuality decided to take his art a notch up by introducing it to his home country, Nigeria. His new single, “Magada” (meaning Big Things) features Chase P, and the video was directed by the buzzing Patrick Elis.
Kuality’s decision to make Afro House is to make music that will stand out amongst the countless stereotypes of sound we have in Nigeria today. He does not only want to be known as the artist called ‘Kuality’, he also wants to be known as the artist that makes ‘quality’ music.
