Bill Cosby steps down from Temple University Board of Trustees

The comedian tendered his resignation amidst allegations of sexual assault by numerous women; Cosby held the seat for 32 years.
“I have always been proud of my association with Temple University. I have always wanted to do what would be in the best interests of the university and its students. As a result, I have tendered my resignation from the Temple University Board of Trustees,” Cosby said in a statement.

According to Philadelphia Magazine, the university has been discussing the situation over the last couple of days. Temple University accepted Cosby’s resignation and thanked him for his service, in a statement.
“The Board of Trustees accepts Dr. Cosby’s resignation from the board and thanks him for his service to the university,” Temple University said, in a statement.
Cosby’s resignation comes on the heels of Netflix and NBC both scrapping their respective Cosby projects, along with the cancellation of several U.S. comedy shows.
